UTP cable is the wire used in many telephone installations. The
connectors used for an Ethernet network using UTP cable are RJ-45
plugs, which are similar to, but larger than ordinary telephone jacks.
Note: You can connect two Ethernet devices, bypassing a hub,
using a 10BaseT crossover/patch cable where pin 1 is
crossed to pin 3 and pin 2 is crossed to pin 6. Crossover/
patch cables must be used with blue and white Power Mac
G3 and G4 computers and with iMac computers; these
computers do not have LocalTalk ports.
To connect your printer to the Ethernet Interface
1.
Turn off your host.
2.
Plug one end of the UTP cable into the Ethernet port on your
printer (fig. 2.29).

3. Plug the cable's other end into your network hub.
Note: Before using your printer, you need to set up the printer for
your network environment and configure the Ethernet
interface. See chapter 5 for details.
