Removing the LFU

To remove the LFU
1.
Make sure the printer displays a PLEASE WAIT or
READY/IDLE message. Then, turn off the printer and
disconnect the power cord from the power supply.
2.
Remove all installed media cassettes by pulling each cassette
out until it stops, lifting it up slightly and removing it from the
printer. Then, remove any media from the cassettes.
3.
Remove the fuser unit by opening the top cover, loosening the
units two securing thumbscrews and lifting the fuser unit
straight up and out of the printer (fig. 9.4).
Caution:
Make sure to keep the fuser unit level during
removal and while it is out of the printer to prevent
fuser oil spills.
4.
Remove the right and left LFU side covers by pulling their
front edges free and pivoting the covers toward the back of the
printer, and sliding the notches free from their securing pegs
(fig. 10.9).
5.
Disconnect the LFU cable from the printer's connector by
pulling the cable straight out (fig. 10.8). If a second LFU is
connected, disconnect its cable from the upper LFU.
6.
Open the LFU's metal coupler 2 by squeezing its handle and
rotating it counterclockwise (fig. 10.7). If a second LFU is
connected, open its metal coupler also.
7.
Loosen metal coupler 1's thumb screw; then, angle the coupler
slightly up and out until you can lift it out of the printer LFU
connector (fig. 10.6).
8.
Reattach the LFU connector cover by sliding the two small
bottom tabs in the base of its opening, rotating the cover up
and snapping the top tab into place (fig. 10.5).
