Color Printing Procedures

This section covers color printing procedures such as density target
calibration and TrueColour calibration.
_______________________________________ Color Printing 8-13
All colors of a given color gamut are scaled to
fit within another color gamut, maintaining the
relationship of all colors. Perceptual intent is
best for scanned images and printing CMYK to
CMYK.
Colors fitting within the gamut of both the
original and output are untouched. Colors falling
outside the output gamut are converted to the
closest gamut colors possible; within-the-gamut
colors remain unchanged. Affected out-of-gamut
colors maintain hue and lightness at the expense
of saturation.
Colors within the gamut are unchanged; out-of-
gamut colors are clipped. This is similar to
relative intent except out-of-gamut colors are
maintained at the expense of some density of
other colors.
Typically, use saturated intent for printing
business graphics where color saturation or
brightness is the most important consideration.
