or as part of a job. These are called Soft fonts or Cartridge fonts.
More Information...
Fonts that are permanently installed on the DocuSP controller
are called Resident fonts. You can not change or delete
Resident Fonts, but you may view them. The DocuSP
controller comes with Postscript (PS) and PCL fonts already
installed.
PostScript: A widely used Page Description Language
(PDL) from Adobe that is used on Apple Macintosh and
Microsoft Windows personal computers. Most printing
companies will accept and may even require a
PostScript file format for electronic files. An example of
a document name in this format is Report.ps. Note that
if you do not have a valid PostScript license, the
system will not contain PostScript fonts.
PCL: Printer Control Language. This is the command
language used in many printers. Essentially, it
streamlines the graphics and font commands so that
less information has to be sent to the printer.
You can later add to your font choices by adding Soft fonts.
Soft fonts are not installed on the DocuSP controller. At any
time after your printer is installed, you can load Soft fonts from
supported media, or from a UNIX directory.
For additional information see: Viewing fonts on the controller, and
Loading additional fonts on the controller.
Viewing fonts on the controller
You can view the PostScript, PDF, and PCL fonts loaded on the
controller and also add new PostScript and PCL fonts as needed
to print your jobs.
Viewing the fonts on the controller displays all the fonts that are
loaded, regardless of whether they were loaded during or after
installation.
NOTE: If you do not have a valid PostScript license, the system
will not contain PostScript fonts.
To view fonts on the controller:
1. Select [PostScript/PDF/PCL Fonts...] from the Administration
menu.
2. To view loaded fonts make a selection from the Font Type pull-
down menu.
PostScript All: Displays all of the PostScript fonts
currently loaded and available on the controller.
PostScript Resident: Displays all of the PostScript fonts
that are loaded as part of the DocuSP installation and
cannot be deleted.
