Managing your SSL/TLS certificate
Since you must have a valid SSL/TLS certificate installed on your
Controller in order to effect SSL/TLS transactions, you must obtain
and install one of two types; Self-Signed and Certificate Authority.
Each type has some similar and some unique installation
procedures. For a Certificate Authority-signed certificate, the
procedure is, in general terms, to set up a certificate, generate a
file, send the file to the Certificate Authority (CA), and install the
valid certificate once obtained from the CA. A self-signed
certificate can be used set up and used immediately. One of the
two types of certificate must be installed before you can employ
SSL/TLS.
Setting up a self-signed SSL/TLS certificate
To set up a self-signed SSL/TLS certificate:
1. Logon to the DocuSP Controller as a System Administrator.
2. From the Setup menu select [SSL/TLS...].
3. Select [Add Certificate...]. The Add Certificate Wizard appears.
4. In Step 1 of the Wizard, select [Self-Signed Certificate] and
click [Next].
NOTE: A self-signed certificate has not been signed by a
recognized Certificate Authority. Web browsers display
security warnings to users if they access a site with a self-
signed certificate.
5. In Step 2 of the Wizard, you see text boxes containing the
Fully Qualified Domain Name and the IP Address. You can
select whether the name or the IP address is used; If you want
to input a different Domain Name, select [Other] and type a
maximum of 256 alphanumeric characters into the supplied
text field. When you have made your selection, click [Next].
NOTE: If you selected [Other], a warning message appears; if
you intend to proceed with using the non-qualified Domain
Name, dispel the warning message by selecting [OK].
6. In Step 3 of the Wizard, enter the requested information in the
text fields. Only the Organization field and the Country pull-
down are required. When you are finished, click [Next].
7. In Step 4 of the Wizard, specify for how long you want the
certificate to be valid. When you are finished, click [Next].
8. In Step 5 of the Wizard, verify that the information is correct. If
so, click [Install].
9. Step 6 of the Wizard appears, verifying that your self-signed
