Setting up a queue to accept PPML (Personalized Print Markup
Language) jobs
For environments that will be using PPML as one of the inputs to
the printer, you may elect to set up a queue to accept and process
PPML jobs specifically.
To configure a queue to process PPML:
1. Determine the queue to which PPML jobs shall be sent. You
may also create a special queue for this; to create a new
queue, first follow the instructions here: Creating New Queues.
2. Open Queue Manager.
3. Disable the selected queue(s) by right-clicking on them and
selecting [Do Not Accept Jobs] from the context menu. This
action will prevent the queue or queues from accepting jobs
while you are modifying its properties.
4. Select the Settings tab.
5. Select the Input/Format FAB.
6. Select PPML from the Format menu.
7. If desired, select the Override checkbox for this feature.
8. If you will be submitting PPML Job Package files, which are
basically zipped files containing the PPML file and PPML
dataset and possibly a Xerox XPIF job ticket, you should:
a. Select [Apply Filter] from within the Job Filter FAB.
b. Select PPML Package Unzipper under Filter Name.
This will enable the queue to automatically unzip the file,
placing the PPML dataset in the appropriate directory for
retrieval at RIP time.
NOTE: When PPML Job Package files are finished printing, all
files associated with the PPML JP file are deleted, including the
dataset files. If you wish your dataset files to persist on the
system, you must upload them as a separate operation and then
simply point the PPML file itself to the URL in which the dataset is
contained.
9. Select the PDL Settings tab.
10. Select the PPML FAB.
11. If you desire your PPML dataset resources to persist on the
system, enter the PPML Job Package Source File directory in
the Directory text field.
12. Select [OK].
13. In the Queue Manager window, enable the queue(s) by right
clicking and selecting [Accept Jobs] from the context menu.
