Enabling Parallel RIP
To enhance RIP performance, you may choose to set up your
DocuSP controller to RIP as few as 1 page (normal, non-parallel
operation) and as many as 5 pages in parallel. The instructions for
setting this up can be found in Setting Job Processing options.
Once Parallel RIP is set up there, you may choose to enable or
disable it at the Queue level.
NOTE: In order to employ Page Parallel RIP (PPR), your system
must possess a valid PPR license.
To enable or disable Parallel RIP:
1. Open the Queue Manager.
2. Double-click a queue to open Queue Properties.
3. Select either [Enable] or [Disable] in the Parallel RIP area of
the Queue Properties tab.
4. If desired, select the Convert PostScript to PDF checkbox.
NOTE: This step is important for PPR users that want to take
advantage of the Page Parallel feature but are unable to use
conforming PS files (e.g. DSC and Page Independence).
Select [OK], or continue setting queue properties.
behavior summary
Below is a general summary of how DocuSP Parallel RIP behavior
is performed on the system.
DocuSP analyzes whether the first job is eligible for Parallel
RIPping. If yes, DocuSP processes this job using all of the
available Parallel RIPs. No additional jobs can be RIPped until this
one is completed. This is Page Parallel RIP.
If the job is not eligible for parallel RIPping, DocuSP routes the
first job through a single RIP, and it is processed as in prior
DocuSP versions. The remaining RIPs are still available. DocuSP
then determines whether the next job is eligible.
If yes, DocuSP processes the job using the remaining RIPs. No
other jobs can be RIPped until one of these two is completed.
If no, DocuSP routes the job through the next single RIP path.
This is called Job Parallel RIP.
Using queue Administrative Pages
Administrative Pages are optional pages that print with the job.
Administrative Pages consist of the Banner Page and Error Page.
Different Administrative Pages can be enabled for each queue, or
one Administrative Page can be created for a group of queues.
Queue default Administrative Pages can be changed at the job
level unless Override is enabled at the queue. The System
Administrator or Operator can set Administrative Pages options.
