Importing/Exporting Device and Finisher Profiles Overview

reprinted by the system. ASR is useful for customers using inline
set-oriented DFA finishers. Without this feature, the user is forced
to manually reprint a damaged set. For LCDS and IPDS, the job
containing the damaged set must be resubmitted.
The user is able to specify the recovery behavior. The available
behaviors are:
Sheet Recovery: This is the default selection. When selected,
the job will recover to the first undelivered sheet in the job.
Set Recovery: If selected, following a finisher jam the job is
positioned back to the start of the first incomplete set and
printing will resume from there.
Considerations and Limits:
ASR is only intended for collated jobs and will not be activated
for uncollated jobs.
Maximum set sizes handled while using ASR is approximately
2000 sheets.
For some very small jobs with ASR on, there will be a
necessary number of skipped pitches.
When you create a device profile to set up a finisher, or finisher
profiles to specify different configurations of the finishing device,
you are creating files that are typically stored on the controller.
These files can be managed in several ways. You may want to
import files from external media or from other locations on the
UNIX file system. Or you may want to export profiles to a different
media.
Device profile and finisher profile files are stored on the controller
in a folder called "fd." Their filenames have one-character
extensions: device profiles end in ".d", and finisher profiles end in
".f". Both of these file types can be imported from diskette, tape,
CD, or another folder in the UNIX file system, into the "fd" folder.
NOTE: If you are using removable media for importing and
exporting of device profiles, it is important that you employ proper
media eject procedures. Failure to do so may result in printer
down time or even data loss.
Importing/exporting device and finisher profiles
To prevent having to reprogram numerous finisher profiles, or in
the event of a system upgrade, import previously created profiles.
To import finisher and device profiles:
1. Open the Printer Manager and select the Finishing tab.
2. Importing finisher profiles: To prevent having to reprogram
numerous finisher profiles, or in the event of a system
