The entry
identifies the LIC containing the port (

0–3), and
will be one of these:
Link State
– The link was shut down by an on-line command, is undergoing re-
Link_disable
IPL, or has not yet been established.
– Some or all modem controls are missing. (This state is passed through
Failed
while a port is becoming enabled.)
– The link was up, but has gone down.
Link_down
– Level 2 cannot be established.
Disconnect
– The necessary level 1 modem signals are present, and the level 2 link is
Linkup
up.
– Some state other than those above has been entered.

the appropriate chapter:
