Introduction to System Operation
Once the database has been configured and the node has been brought on line, little
operator intervention is generally necessary. The various functions that can be per-
formed from the menus allow the operator to do such things as:
Perform on-line software updates to nodes.
Enable and disable ports, useful for maintenance or updates, or for preventing
use of particular ports (for any reason).
Transfer files between nodes.
Back up and restore database and/or system files.
Take control of remote Cabletron frame relay access devices.
Monitor status of the node, ports, connections, or traffic.
Display event messages and configure routing of events.
Display statistics for level 2, RLPs, and ports, plus IP and IPX interfaces.
Produce reports on configuration and boot messages.
If you are controlling a remote Cabletron frame relay access device, most
of these operations relate to that device.
