13. Slide the collision cell assembly onto the analyzer tray. Hold the collision cell and Q1 in
the tray and make sure Q1 and the collision cell are correctly positioned before tightening
the screws on the Q1 exit endcap
.
CAUTION - INSTRUMENT DAMAGE Do not overtighten the endcap screws. If torque
exceeds 1.5 N•m, thread damage will occur.
IMPORTANT For optimal performance, the quadrupole must fit straight and securely in
the endcap and be aligned so that the collision cell is level with the tray. Slightly tighten
each screw several times going from one to another until all are securely tightened.

Tip You will get better signal if you gently push the quadrupole rod endcaps toward one
another while tightening the screws.
14. Reattach the Q3 exit lens assembly and the Q3 quad assembly to the analyzer tray. Ensure
that quadrupole 3 and the collision cell assembly are correctly positioned before
tightening screws.
15. Reattach the two screws on each side of the quadrupole rod endcaps.
Tip Look through the endcaps to be sure the quadrupole ceramics are aligned properly.
