Support Assembly, Upper
Removal
1. Prepare the printer for maintenance (page 223).
2. Remove the printhead assembly (page 250).
3. Remove the head up sensor (page 258).
4. Pull the grommet out of the frame on the drive (electronics) side and feed
the cables back inside the frame while they are still through the grommet.
(Figure 51, page 282, item 1.)
5. Remove the four screws securing the upper support assembly to the
printer frame. (Figure 48, page 272, items 2 and 3).
Installation
1. Reverse the steps of the removal procedure.
CAUTION
The rubber grommet covering the edges of the frame cutout protects the
power supply and printhead/controller cable assemblies from chafing
on the metal edges. Chafed conductors can result in damage to the
printer. Make sure the grommet is undamaged and in place after routing
cables through the frame.
Make sure to install the grommet with the smaller flange on the upper
support (media) side of the frame with the corner cutout in the bottom
front corner. (Figure 51, page 282, item 1.)
2. Restore the printer to operation (page 224).
