Explanation
The software running or being
downloaded does not match the
security PAL code.
Normal message when the
printer is being setup for
downloading software using the
serial or parallel port. PORT=
displays selected serial port and
parameters or Centronics port.
Data validation error: the
validator cannot read clearly
because either the ambient light
is too bright or there is a
hardware failure inside the
validator itself.
Application software tried to
perform an illegal printer
function or damaged logic
circuits were detected on the
controller PCBA.
Solution
Install the correct PAL at U7 or
use the correct emulation
program. (PAL and program
must match.)
1. Complete the downloading
software procedure. See
"Downloading Software
Through the Serial or
Parallel Port" on page 352.
2. Exit this procedure by
cycling printer power.
1. Dim the ambient lighting.
2. Replace the validator.
1. Cycle power. If the
message reappears, power
off the printer.
2. Disconnect the input data
cable from the host
computer. Power on the
printer. If the message
reappears, download the
emulation software again.
3. Cycle power. Run the print
job again. If the message
reappears, replace the
controller PCBA. Write
down the message and
return it with the defective
board.
If the message does not
appear, there is an
application software error.

your local support group.
