Removal And Replacement Procedures

NIC Assembly

NOTE: The NIC LAN option is a 10/100Base-T ethernet interface available
Removal
1. Prepare the printer for maintenance (page 223).
CAUTION
To prevent electrostatic damage to electronic components, always wear
a properly grounded static wrist strap when you handle circuit boards.
2. Put on a static wrist strap and ground it to an unpainted part of the printer
frame. Touch the frame with the hand wearing the wrist strap.
3. Loosen one screw and remove the other that secures the NIC assembly
to the cutout at the rear of the printer frame. (Figure 51, page 282,
item 14.)
4. Slide the NIC assembly out of the cutout, disconnect the Centronics cable
from the parallel connector J203 on the back of the interface board, and
lift the assembly out of the printer. (Figure 51, page 282, items 6 and 9.)
Installation
CAUTION

2. Reverse the steps of the removal procedure.
3. Restore the printer to operation (page 224).

DIP switches on the interface board are described on page 245.
If the NIC is installed in the printer, the NIC configuration values
appear under the ETHERNET PARAMS menu, accessed through the
control panel. The Ethernet version, Ethernet parameters, IP
Address, Gateway Address, and Subnet Mask are also listed when a
configuration printout is made. (The procedures for accessing
configuration menus and making a configuration printout are in the
User's Manual .)
