TEMPERATURE (ECT) SWITCH
INSPECTION

HINT:
It is not necessary to drain out all the coolant.

If no continuity exists, replace the switch.

− ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SWITCH
DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT FROM RADIATOR
REMOVE ECT SWITCH
INSPECT SWITCH CONTINUITY
Using an ohmmeter, check that no continuity exists be-
tween the terminals when the coolant temperature is
above 90°C (194°F).
Using an ohmmeter, check that continuity exists between
the terminals when the coolant temperature is below 83
°C (181°F).
INSTALL ECT SWITCH
REFILL ENGINE COOLANT
