The RADWIN GSU may be operated over Ethernet or connected to an HSS Unit using a
standard HSS cable. It synchronizes the transmission timing of multiple Hub‐Sites to the same
clock source thus eliminating self‐interference (see Chapter 16).

Lightning Protector Unit (LPU)
The use of lightning protection is dependent on regulatory and end user requirements. The
RADWIN 5000 ODU is designed with surge limiting circuits to minimize the risk of damage due
to lightning strikes. It is designed for use with RADWIN products.

The lightning protector incorporates high‐power gas discharge tube and current transistor
protection in a single protector unit. Technical specifications are listed in Appendix A.
