16.2.2 Configure a switch Port
A switch port supports the following modes: access and trunk modes. Ports belong to only one VLAN in
access mode, and only receive and transmit Ethernet frame without vlan-tag. Ports in trunk mode can
connect to other switch, and transmit and receive Ethernet frame with vlan-tag.
There is one default vlan and PVID in each port. All of the data without vlan label received under port
belong to the VLAN data packet.
Trunk mode can set an port belong to several VLANs and configure packets and VLAN forwarding
number. That is, trunk mode decides packets sent by ports are Tagged or untagged and the VLAN list
where port belong.
Use the following commands to configure switch port:
switchport pvid vlan-id
switchport mode
switchport trunk vlan-allowed
switchport trunk vlan-untagged
To configure FastEthernet 1/0 to access interface of VLAN 10.
