Creating an MSN

For information on how to use the Trace Window, refer to
page 17-28.
MSN is used to distinguish between different services attached to
the same ISDN line; for example, to differentiate between an
ISDN fax and a Nautica 200 on the same ISDN line, or between a
normal data call and a PPTP call.
There are no MSNs set up after the unit is first installed.
To create an MSN, at the
new ms number/service
where
is the verb NEW,

is the telephone number to be associated with a specific service
and
is the option the telephone number is matched

BCC allows two services to be matched against a telephone
number:
Digital: Associate the configured MSN number to a data
service, for example, PPP Data.
PPTP: Associate the specified MSN to the destination
address (refer to the DEST attribute on
allow the unit to originate a Point to Point Tunnelling
Protocol (PPTP) tunnel and terminate the tunnel at the
specified destination address.
The Digital option is designed specifically for areas where data
calls have higher tariffs than voice calls. Using this option it is
possible to use the cheaper voice tariff to provide a normal data
service.
To set up data over voice for outgoing calls, use the V modifier
when entering the ISDN Number onto the path (page 4-15). For
incoming data over voice, create an MSN with the service
attribute set to Digital.
