Ping
ping
The unit contains a PING utility which sends an ICMP
echo request to a target IP address. This verb is used
generally for diagnostic purposes, for example to verify
the correct operation of a path, WAN link or route. The
format of the command is:
PING [Arguments] <IP ADDRESS>
Where the arguments are as follows:
•
-t Ping forever/until interrupted
•
-n <num> Ping num times
•
-l <num> Ping with num bytes of data
•
-i <num> Ping with ttl of num
•
-w <num> Ping with timeout of num
•
-d <num> Ping with time delay of num
•
-c Ping with compressible data
•
-v No display
For example, to PING an IP address 10 times, the
following is typed at any prompt:
