NauticaRS Release 4.1 Reference Guide

Upgrading a Nautica Clam

Minimum Hardware Requirements

Upgrade Procedure

2-2
In NauticaRS 4.1, a new scheme has been devised for loading
NauticaRS software directly from the Nautica Configuration
Wizard (Nautica Wizard).
Nautica Wizard is a Windows 95 configuration tool that allows
Nautica routers to be configured quickly and efficiently.
The use of Nautica Wizard avoids the need for users having to
have packet drivers for future upgrades.
In order for your Clam to inter-operate with Nautica Wizard in
bootmode, it is necessary to load the new bootloader.
Warning:
It is strongly recommended that you upgrade the
bootloader on your Nautica router when upgrading from 3.5 to
4.1 router code. The new bootloader is required for the full
operation of Nautica Wizard.
All "Enterprise" Clam models are supported in this release. The
Clam-IP model cannot be upgraded to this software release.
Note:
Packet drivers are not supplied on the CD, they are
obtained from the manufacturer of your Ethernet card or from
various public domain resources on the Internet.
1.
Install the packet driver
It is possible to install the packet driver either through DOS
or Windows 95.
DOS Packet Driver: If you have a desktop PC with an
Ethernet card, and a DOS packet driver for that card, this
is likely to be the simplest upgrade route.
