When you purchase fractional mode from your service
provider, you specify how many channels you want to
use. This number is entered here.
In the U.K., for example, British Telecom supply a
service called Aggregate Kilostream (also known as
Fractional E1). Purchasing this service allows you to
specify how many channels you wish to use (up to a
maximum of 31).
