Note:
Packet drivers are not supplied on the CD, they are
obtained from the manufacturer of your Ethernet card or from
various public domain resources on the Internet.
1.
Install the packet driver
It is possible to install the packet driver either through DOS
or Windows 95.
DOS Packet Driver: If you have a desktop PC with an
Ethernet card, and a DOS packet driver for that card, this
is likely to be the simplest upgrade route.
If your packet driver has an option to configure the
interrupt, use interrupt 0x66 as this is the default
interrupt used by the upgrade tools.
For example, using a 3Com 3C509 Ethernet adaptor, and
a packet driver called 3C509pd.com, the command to
change the interrupt is as follows:
After the packet driver is loaded, the MARLOAD utility
can be used to upgrade the router code as described in
Step 5.
Windows 95 Virtual Packet Driver: If a DOS packet
driver is not available for your network interface card
(NIC), a Windows 95 Virtual Packet Driver can be
downloaded for information on downloading the packet
driver, refer to the "Questions and Answers" section
(page
2-15).
2.
Save and Convert existing configuration
If you want to use your existing configuration after the
upgrade, it is necessary to save the configuration and upgrade
this to a release 4.1 compatible file.
