Diagnostic Procedure with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)
ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS)
Step
6 CHECK CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR.
1) Remove the camshaft position sensor.
2) Measure the resistance between connector
terminals of camshaft position sensor.
Terminals
No. 1 — No. 2:
7 CHECK CONDITION OF CAMSHAFT POSI-
TION SENSOR.
Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
8 CHECK CAM SPROCKET.
Remove the timing belt cover. <Ref. to
ME(H4SO)-39, Timing Belt Cover.>
9 CHECK INSTALLATION CONDITION OF
TIMING BELT.
Turn the crankshaft, and align alignment marks
on cam sprocket and timing belt cover LH.
Check
Is the resistance between 1
and 4 kΩ?
Is the camshaft position sensor
installation bolt tightened
securely?
Are cam sprocket teeth
cracked or damaged?
Is the timing belt dislocated
from its proper position?

Go to step 7. Replace the cam-

Go to step 8. Tighten the cam-
shaft position sen-
sor installation bolt
securely.
