Calibration Using a Model

Model 146i Instruction Manual
The ozone generator used on the Model 146i qualifies as a transfer standard
under current U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requirements. In
order to use it as a transfer standard, the user must certify the generator,
following the procedures published in the technical assistance document for
the calibration of ozone transfer standards.
In order to determine a calibration curve for the ozone generator, an ozone
primary standard must be used. If an ozone analyzer is also available, the
generation of the calibration curve becomes easier. A procedure for both is
given below.
Use the following procedure to calibrate the Model 146i using a Model 49i
PS. Refer to the Photometer Calibration Flow Schematic
49i PS
1. Connect the 49i PS OUTPUT to the 146i EXTERNAL SAMPLE port.
2. Set flow of the 49i PS to the desired level.
3. Determine the ozone concentration at different ozone level settings on
the 146i.
4. Determine a calibration curve by plotting the results of Step 3.
5. Change to the 146i Photometer Calibration Span.
6. For highest confidence, reconnect the 49i PS to the 146i and recheck
the ozone calibrations.
