High Beam Switch Input Short - Chrysler Town and Country 2003 Owner's Manual

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Symptom:

HIGH BEAM SWITCH INPUT SHORT

When Monitored and Set Condition:
HIGH BEAM SWITCH INPUT SHORT
When Monitored: Ignition On.
Set Condition: When voltage is below 0.488 volts.
INTERMITTENT CONDITION
MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH
HIGH BEAM SWITCH MUX CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
HIGH BEAM SWITCH MUX SHORT TO MUX RETURN CIRCUIT
BODY CONTROL MODULE
TEST
1 Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII , clear all BCM DTC's.
Actuate the High Beams.
With the DRBIII , read the DTC information.
Does the DRBIII read: High Beam Switch Input Short?
Yes → Go To 2
→ The condition that caused the symptom is currently not present.
No
2 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Multifunction Switch harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII , read the Multifunction Switch voltage.
Is the voltage above 4.8 volts?
Yes → Replace the Multifunction Switch.
→ Go To 3
No
3 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Body Control Module C5 harness connector.
Disconnect the Multifunction Switch Harness connector.
Measure the resistance between the High Beam Switch MUX circuit and ground.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes → Repair the High Beam Switch MUX circuit for a short to ground.
→ Go To 4
No
POSSIBLE CAUSES
ACTION
Inspect the related wiring for a possible intermittent condition.
Look for any chafed, pierced,pinched, or partially broken wires.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
