8-cylinder TDI engine (4.2 ltr. 4-valve common rail), mechanics - Edition 12.2013
– First remove bolts -2- and -3- and then subframe bolts -1- and
-4-.
– Lower gearbox and subframe slowly using engine and gear‐
box jack - V.A.G 1383 A- .
Note
Lower gearbox only as far as absolutely necessary. Bend joints
of propshaft only as far as stop to avoid damaging joints.
– Detach electrical connector for exhaust gas temperature send‐
er 2 - G448- -item 1- from bracket and unplug.
– Unscrew exhaust gas temperature sender 2 - G448- .
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
Note
Fit all cable ties in the original positions when installing.
– Note correct installation position of exhaust gas temperature
sender 2 - G448- :
• The electrical connection must point downwards in vertical di‐
rection.
• Distance to gearbox must be at least 15 mm.
– Align exhaust system so it is free of stress
– Install subframe ⇒ Rep. gr. 40 .
