8-cylinder TDI engine (4.2 ltr. 4-valve common rail), mechanics - Edition 12.2013
– Remove toothed belt for high-pressure pump ⇒ Rep. gr. 23 .
– Remove high-pressure pump ⇒ Rep. gr. 23 .
– Remove bolts -arrows- and detach bracket for high-pressure
pump.
– Disconnect coolant hose from connections -1- and -2-.
– Loosen sealing cap -arrow- with 32 mm socket.
– Remove sealing cap together with oil filter element.
– Pull oil filter element off sealing cap.
– Unbolt retaining clips -arrows-.
– Spread out rags round oil filter housing to catch escaping oil.
– Pull out oil filter housing.
– Remove coolant hose from connection for exhaust gas recir‐
culation (left-side) -arrows-.
– Remove bolts -1- and -2-.
