– Remove bolts and detach front sealing flange -arrow-.
– Drive out oil seal with sealing flange removed.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

Renew gaskets, seals and O-rings.
– Cover open area of top section of sump with a clean cloth.
– Remove old sealant from grooves in sealing flange and from
sealing surfaces.
WARNING
Wear safety goggles.
– Remove remaining sealant from sealing flange -1- and cylin‐
der block/sump (top section) with rotating plastic brush or
similar.
– Clean sealing surfaces; they must be free of oil and grease.
Note
Note the use-by date of the sealant.
– Cut off tube nozzle at front marking (diameter of nozzle ap‐
prox. 1.5 mm).
– Install sealing elements -1- and -3- and O-ring -2-.
– Apply bead of sealant -arrow- onto clean sealing surface of
front sealing flange as illustrated.
• The bead of sealant must project 1.5 ... 2.0 mm above the
sealing surface.
Note
The sealant bead must not be thicker than specified, otherwise

excess sealant could enter the sump and clog the strainer in
the oil pump.
The front sealing flange must be installed within 5 minutes af‐

ter applying sealant.
