Checking Compression - Audi A8 2003 Workshop Manual

8-cylinder TDI engine (4.2 ltr. 4-valve common rail), mechanics - Edition 12.2013
– Tighten cylinder head bolts as follows in the sequence shown:
1. Tighten with torque wrench to 35 Nm.
2. Tighten with torque wrench to 60 Nm.

Turn 90° ( / 4 turn) further using a rigid wrench.

Turn 90° ( / 4 turn) further using a rigid wrench.
Note
Cylinder head bolts do not have to be torqued down again later
after repair work.
– Install cylinder head cover
– Install high-pressure pump ⇒ Rep. gr. 23 .
– Install toothed belt for high-pressure pump ⇒ Rep. gr. 23 .
– Install control motors for exhaust gas recirculation: left-side
⇒ page 317 , right-side
– Install intake manifold (top section) ⇒ Rep. gr. 23 .
– Install engine ⇒ page 40
– Change engine oil ⇒ Maintenance ; Booklet 404 .
– Fill cooling system with fresh coolant
Tightening torques
Component
Turbocharger to exhaust manifold
Connection for exhaust
gas recirculation to:
Coolant hose/pipe connection to connection for
exhaust gas recirculation
Coolant line to cylinder head

Renew nuts.
• 2)
90° = one quarter turn.
• 3)
Coat with high-temperature paste; for high-temperature
paste refer to ⇒ Electronic parts catalogue
