Audi A8 2003 ➤
8-cylinder TDI engine (4.2 ltr. 4-valve common rail), mechanics - Edition 12.2013
– Detach coolant hoses -1- and -3-.
– Remove bolt -2-.
– Detach coolant pipe (left-side) from coolant pump.
Note
Shown in illustration with turbocharger (left-side) removed.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

Renew O-rings.
Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips
(same as original equipment) ⇒ Electronic parts catalogue .
Fit all cable ties in the original positions when installing.
– Clean and smoothen sealing surface for O-ring as required
before installing.
– Lubricate new O-ring with coolant and slide onto coolant pipe.
– Install engine support and engine mounting
– Install coolant pipe (rear)
– Install starter catalytic converter (left-side)
– Install radiator cowl
– Install radiator
⇒ page 242
– Install subframe ⇒ Rep. gr. 40 .
– Tighten subframe bolts only to specified torque (do not turn
further). Do not tighten bolts to final setting until after wheel
alignment check has been performed ⇒ Rep. gr. 40 .
WARNING
The vehicle must not be driven at this stage.
– Install anti-roll bar ⇒ Rep. gr. 40 .
Note
Do not reuse coolant.
– Fill cooling system
⇒ page 216
– Perform wheel alignment check ⇒ Rep. gr. 44 .
WARNING
Tighten bolts for subframe to final setting after performing
wheel alignment check.
