– Spread out rags round mounting plate to catch escaping oil.
– Unbolt mounting plate -arrow- at cylinder block.
– Lift off mounting plate.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

Renew gaskets, seals and O-rings.

Fit all heat insulation sleeves in the original position when in‐

stalling.
– Tighten bolts securing mounting plate from the inside out‐
wards.
– Install oil cooler ⇒ page 204
– Install exhaust gas recirculation cooler with change-over flap
⇒ page 320 .
– Install high-pressure pump ⇒ Rep. gr. 23 .
– Install toothed belt for high-pressure pump ⇒ Rep. gr. 23 .
– Install air conditioner compressor ⇒ Rep. gr. 87 .
– Charge the refrigerant system ⇒ Air conditioner system - with
refrigerant R134a .
– Install intake manifold (top section) ⇒ Rep. gr. 23 .
– Install coolant pipes (front)
– Fill up with engine oil and check engine oil level ⇒ Mainte‐
nance ; Booklet 404 .
Note
Do not reuse coolant.
– Fill cooling system ⇒ page 216
Tightening torque

Mounting plate to cylinder block

Renew bolts.

90° = one quarter turn.
