Note
The engine/gearbox assembly remains on the scissor-type as‐
sembly platform - VAS 6131 A- (without detaching the gearbox)
when performing the following repairs.
For better accessibility the subframe is removed as follows:
– Remove bolts -arrows- for front gearbox mountings (left and
right).
– Screw down spindles of support elements -2- (left and right)
at subframe as far as possible.
– Remove locating lugs from spindles.
– Take out subframe -3- from the side.
Note
A second mechanic is required for removing the subframe.

Engine cross member -4- is not removed, the support ele‐

ments -1- for engine cross member remain fitted.
– Unplug electrical connectors -1-, -3-, -5- and -6-.
– Remove nut -2- and bolt -7- and detach bracket (right-side).
Note
Disregard -item 4-.
– Release retaining pegs -arrows- and detach toothed belt cov‐
er.
– Pivot toothed belt cover to the rear and disengage retaining
pegs on bottom side of toothed belt cover.
