8-cylinder TDI engine (4.2 ltr. 4-valve common rail), mechanics - Edition 12.2013
– Disconnect relay -item 2- and unclip socket from relay carrier.
– Release both fuse holders -1- and -3- from relay carrier and
pull off from above.
– Pull off fuses.
Note
Make sure to fit each wire in its original position when connecting
(apply a marking on each wire for allocation).
– Release contact in chamber "2" of each fuse holder using re‐
lease tool - VAS 1978/8A- .
– Place engine control units with wiring harness attached on top
of engine.
Note
Secure the engine control units to prevent them falling.
– Disconnect coolant hose at bulkhead -arrow-.
– Disconnect coolant hose from coolant pipe next to drive shaft
(left-side) -arrow-.
