8-cylinder TDI engine (4.2 ltr. 4-valve common rail), mechanics - Edition 12.2013
– Detach vacuum hose -1-.
– Detach coolant hoses -2- and -3-.
– Remove bolts -arrows- and take off exhaust gas recirculation
cooler with change-over flap.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

Renew seals and gaskets.

Fit all heat insulation sleeves in the original position when in‐

stalling.
♦ Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips
(same as original equipment) ⇒ Electronic parts catalogue .
– Install oil filter housing
– Install high-pressure pump ⇒ Rep. gr. 23 .
– Install toothed belt for high-pressure pump ⇒ Rep. gr. 23 .
– Install intake manifold (top section) ⇒ Rep. gr. 23 .
Note
Do not reuse coolant.

Bracket for high-pressure pump to cylinder
block
Sealing cap on oil filter housing
Retaining clips for oil filter housing
Exhaust gas recirculation cooler with change-
over flap to engine
Connection for exhaust gas recirculation (left-
side) to cylinder head
