8-cylinder TDI engine (4.2 ltr. 4-valve common rail), mechanics - Edition 12.2013
– Unscrew bolts -2- on retaining clamps (left and right) for anti-
roll bar and move anti-roll bar -1- downwards.
– Unscrew bolts -1 ... 3- and remove engine cross member.
– Position used oil collection and extraction unit below engine.
– Drain off engine oil.
– Then unscrew alternator bolt -3- approx. 2 turns.

Tap carefully on bolt head with flat side of hammer to release
threaded bush of alternator mount.
– Remove bolts -1 ... 6-.
– Unscrew retaining clip -arrow- for power steering hydraulic line
at sump (centre section).
