RESOLVING PROBLEMS
If you have these symptoms...
While in a call, you canÕt hear
the far end and the far end canÕt
hear you.
You canÕt hear sound from a
VCR.
You canÕt hear someone joining
the conference by telephone
(using the Voice Call option).

9. Run the Local Audio/Video Loopback test from the
Loopback Tests menu at both the near end and far end to
determine if the problem is with the transmission of data
through the monitor and speakers.
10. Run the Encoder/Decoder Loopback test from the
Loopback Tests menu to determine if the problem is with
the transmission of data through the monitor and
speakers, or the codec.
If you place the call again and still do not hear any
audio or you have located the defective part, contact
your PictureTel service provider.
Symptoms for network or communications failure vary according to
the type of network to which your system is connected. If there is a
problem with the network interface connection, the message
may appear brießy during the power on process or
not connected
during operation (except for V.35/RS-449 network interface). You
can also check the Display System Status screen to see if the last
selected network is connected or disconnected.
Before trying the speciÞc procedures listed in this section, go
through the following checklist if you are experiencing problems
making and receiving calls:
1. Make sure all network connections to the electronics module are
securely attached.
Loose or incorrect cabling is a common cause of problems.
2. Check your network configuration menus to be sure that you
configured the network interface correctly.
3. If you suspect the problem is with the system, run the Local
Channel Loopback test from the Loopback Tests menu.
This test veriÞes the operation of the near-end components and
cables, the codec, and the H.320 multiplexer.
4. If you can make calls to some sites but not to others, or are
receiving a lot of errors when making calls, run the Network
Reflector Loopback test from the Loopback Tests menu.
This test veriÞes the transmission of data over the network.
