You should be familiar with the following terms that are discussed
in this chapter:
Codec Ñ A digital signal processing unit that takes an analog
input and converts it to digital on the sending end; at the
receiving end the process is reversed to take the digital signal
and reconvert it to analog. Also known as a coder/decoder.
H.320 Ñ A set of standards that deÞnes the communication
between two videoconferencing systems. H.320 is an approved
standard of the United Nations International
Telecommunications Union (ITU).
Multiplexer Ñ Electronic equipment that lets multiple signals
share a single communications circuit.
You can run a variety of tests from the System Tests menu. When
you choose
Test System
from the Setup menu, you see this menu:
