Connecting One VCR to a Venue•2000

Venue•2000 has two data ports on the back of the electronics module
that let you connect a modem or a serial device (such as a PC). If you
are connecting a modem to the data port, see the installation
instructions that came with your modem. You must conÞgure the
data port to match the parameters of the device you are attaching.
See Chapter 6 of this book for more information on conÞguring data
ports. The following illustration shows the Venue•2000Õs data ports.
You can connect one or two VCRs to your Venue•2000. When you
connect one VCR, you can send motion video from your VCR to the
far-end videoconferencing system, or you can record the
videoconference. When you connect two VCRs, you can send video
from one VCR while you are recording the videoconference on the
other VCR.
The following instructions can be used for both mono and stereo
VCRs. However, if you are connecting a stereo VCR, make sure that
you plug the cables into the same side of the Line In and Line Out
connectors, either the left or right side. If you want to record on both
channels of the VCR, you need an RCA Y adapter cable, which you
can purchase at any electronics store. Even though the sound plays
back over both speakers of the Venue¥2000, it is not truly stereo,
since the Venue¥2000 is a mono system.
To connect one VCR to a Venue•2000:
1. Power down your videoconferencing system.
2. Plug the Venue • 2000 VCR video cable that is labeled
