About the Backup Battery

The backup battery must be kept adequately charged so that documents
can be stored for approximately three hours when the power supply is
interrupted. To charge the backup battery sufficiently, keep the unit
continuously plugged in for at least 24 hours under normal temperatures
and humidity.
Frequently disconnecting your unit (at night and holidays, for
example) can prevent the backup battery from sufficiently charging
and shorten its life. It is recommended that you keep the unit
plugged in.
Your unit is designed to operate normally in an environment of 5° to
35° C and 10% to 90% humidity. Using the unit in an environment
that is too hot or too cold shortens the data storage time and the life
of the backup battery.
The backup battery can be fully charged 40 times before the end of its
life is reached. (Leave the unit plugged in for at least 24 hours to fully
charge the battery.)
The storage time for the documents depends on the charge status of
the backup battery. If the documents storage time falls below half the
normal time, even though the unit has been continuously plugged in
for at least 24 hours, the backup battery could be nearing the end of
its life or there could be a problem in the operating environment. In
such a case, contact your local authorised Olivetti dealer or the
Olivetti Lexikon Help Desk. Note that replacement of the battery is at
the owner's expense.
