Different Ways to Receive a Document

This unit provides you with two different modes for receiving
documents. To decide which mode will best suit your requirements,
consider how you want to use the unit.

Overview

The two different modes for receiving documents are as follows:
AUTO RX Mode
Your unit is set to this mode when you first set it up. Use this mode if
you plan to connect your unit to a dedicated telephone line, used
only for faxing. The unit then receives documents automatically. If
the unit receives a voice call, it will not ring to let you know, even if
a telephone is connected to the unit.
MANUAL RX Mode
Use this mode if you will frequently use the unit as a telephone and
want to answer every call yourself, including fax calls. The unit then
rings for every call, whether phone or fax, and you must press the
Start button to begin receiving a document.
Once you have decided which mode you want, set the mode as described
in "Setting and Checking the Receive Mode" (1 p. 5-4). You can change
the mode at any time.
