Telephone Line Problems
You cannot use your telephone?

Is your unit set to copy mode?
Press the FAX button to light the FAX lamp.
Other Problems
Is sending and receiving of documents too slow?

Is the resolution set to FINE, SUPER FINE, or ULTRA FINE?
Setting the resolution to STANDARD reduces the sending time.
However, any fine text in the document will also be harder to read.

Is the picture quality set to HALFTONE or TEXT/PHOTO?
Press the F3 (IMAGE QUALITY) button to select TEXT. (1 p. 4-20)

Is ECM (Error Correction Mode) set to 01 ON?
Because ECM corrects errors during a transmission, any problems on
the line can mean that the transmission will take extra time. Set ECM
to 02 OFF. (1 pp. 14-18, 14-20)
Cannot get documents from information services?

Were there any instructions from the other party, such as to set to
receive?
Just before receiving, press the Start button.
