You must press Password within five seconds of pressing Set. If you
wait longer than the time-out interval before pressing Password, the
unit will start scanning the document. The time-out interval can be
turned off.

The password can be up to 20 digits long, and can include h,
#, and spaces.
The password (and any spaces in it) must be exactly the same
as the other party's password.
To enter a space, press Space.
To delete the rightmost digit, press F4 (DELETE).
To correct an entire entry, press Clear.
If the other fax unit is holding the document under a
subaddress, your subaddress must match the other party's
subaddress.
If the other fax unit is holding the document under both a
subaddress and password, then you must poll the fax unit
with a matching subaddress and a password.
