When you hear the other party answer the call, pick up the
handset and you can talk.

When you hear the high-pitched signal of the other party's fax
unit, press Start on your unit and then hang up your handset.

Be sure to hang up after you press the Start button on your unit. If
you hang up first, you will disconnect the call.
If the offhook alarm starts beeping, make sure the handset is resting
properly on the handset cradle.
To take advantage of the speed dialling feature of your unit, register
frequently used long distance numbers under one-touch speed
dialling buttons or coded speed dialling codes. (1 pp. 3-8, 3-24)
If you have trouble connecting to a long distance number, register the
number under a one-touch speed dialling button or coded speed
dialling code and adjust the TX SPEED and INTERNATIONAL
settings (1 pp. 3-12, 3-29). This may help your connection. If you are
still having trouble, contact your telephone company.
Chapter 10
If you pressed Hook in step 3, instead of lifting the handset,
you will hear the other party's voice but they will not be able
to hear you through the speaker. Pick up the handset to talk to
the other party.
If you hear a high pitched signal, instead of the other party's
voice, press Start and hang up your handset. The unit will
begin sending the document.
