snmp-server host
The snmp-server host Global Configuration mode command specifies the recipient of Simple
Network Management Protocol Version 1 or Version 2 notifications. To remove the specified
host, use the no form of this command.
Syntax
snmp-server host {ip-address | hostname} community-string [traps | informs] [1 | 2]
[udp-port port] [filter filtername] [timeout seconds] [retries retries]
no snmp-server host {ip-address | hostname} [traps | informs]
Parameters
■
ip-address — Specifies the IP address of the host (targeted recipient).
■
hostname — Specifies the name of the host. (Range:1-158 characters)
■
community-string — Specifies a password-like community string sent with the notification
operation. (Range: 1-20)
■
traps — Indicates that SNMP traps are sent to this host. If unspecified, SNMPv2 traps are
sent to the host.
■
informs — Indicates that SNMP informs are sent to this host. Not applicable to SNMPv1.
■
1 — Indicates that SNMPv1 traps will be used.
■
2 — Indicates that SNMPv2 traps will be used.
■
port — Specifies the UDP port of the host to use. If unspecified, the default UDP port
number is 162. (Range: 1-65535)
■
filtername — Specifies a string that defines the filter for this host. If unspecified, nothing is
filtered. (Range: 1-30 characters)
■
seconds — Specifies the number of seconds to wait for an acknowledgment before resending
informs. If unspecified, the default timeout period is 15 seconds. (Range: 1-300)
■
retries — Specifies the maximum number of times to resend an inform request. If
unspecified, the default maximum number of retries is 3. (Range: 1-255)

This command has no default configuration.

Command Usage
When configuring an SNMPv1 or SNMPv2 notification recipient, a notification view for that
recipient is automatically generated for all the MIB.
When configuring an SNMPv1 notification recipient, the Informs option cannot be selected.
If a trap and inform are defined on the same target, and an inform was sent, the trap is not sent.
