Examples
The following command discovers the routes that packets will actually take when traveling to
their destination.
Console# traceroute 192.168.2.5
Tracing the route to 192.168.2.5 (192.168.2.5), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets
Type Esc to abort.
1 192.168.2.5 (192.168.2.5) <20 ms <20 ms <20 ms
Trace complete.

Description
Indicates the sequence number of the device in the path to the host.
Host name of this device.
IP address of this device.
Round-trip time for each probe sent.
Description
The probe timed out.
Unknown packet type.
Administratively unreachable. Usually, this output indicates that
an access list is blocking traffic.
Fragmentation is required and DF is set.
Host unreachable.
Network unreachable.
Protocol unreachable.
Source quench.
Fragment reassembly time exceeded.
Source route failed.
Port unreachable.
