Description
The service bay, located on the outer end of each service frame, lets you isolate a
malfunctioning TeraPorter in a two TeraPorter library for maintenance without
interrupting library operations. After a TeraPorter is in the service bay, a
manually operated safety door can be closed and locked to isolate the
TeraPorter for service.
The safety door is manually opened and closed using a latching handle located
on the door. A solenoid locks the safety door open or closed. The BlueScale user
interface and the LEDs on the SCM indicate whether the door is open or closed
and if it is safe to perform service.
The BlueScale user interface also provides controls for preparing the TeraPorter
in the service bay for maintenance and for locking or unlocking the safety door.
When the safety door is unlocked and enabled, the handle can be lowered to
manually slide the safety bay door into the service frame to isolate the
TeraPorter in the service bay.
After the TeraPorter is moved into the service bay and the safety door is closed,
the transporter can be accessed and serviced through the service access opening
at the back of the service frame. A safety interlock on the door covering the
access opening automatically turns off all 24 VDC power to the library robotics
if it is opened without first closing the service bay safety door.
The expansion power module provides power to the service frame and
includes the following:
 Power Supply Modules — Two 24 VDC power supply modules in each
service frame provide redundant power for the library robotics and the
safety door controls. See 24 VDC Robotics Power Supply Modules on page 37
for a description of the 24 VDC power supply modules.
Note: The right service bay only has one 24 VDC supply in a single TeraPorter
library.
 AC input and breaker switches — Two AC power connectors and two
breaker switches, one for each 24 VDC power supply module, provide power
to the service frame components and the TeraPorter when it is in the service
frame.
Some libraries shipped with a control module in a service frame, called a
Service Expansion Module (SEM). The library no longer uses the SEM. If your
library has one, it can be used as a spare for the LCM or RCM.
All of the media in the library is stored in TeraPack magazines, each of which
contains nine slots for TS11xx technology or T10K cartridges or ten slots for
LTO cartridges. The magazines are placed on shelves divided into chambers.
The chambers are located along the side of the frame where it attaches to the
preceding frame (see Drive, Media, and Service Frames on page 66).
