Chapter 1 — Library Overview Library Features Entry/Exit Port Figure 5 The T120 E/E port (shown open). The entry/exit port (E/E port) is used to import cartridges into or export cartridges from the library. Up to eight cartridges are inserted into the E/E magazine, which is then inserted into the E/E port.
Spectra PC and Spectra LS Depending on when you purchased your library, your library may use either the Spectra LS or the Spectra PC as the LCM. The Spectra LS replaces the previous generation computer module, the Spectra PC.
Page 33
If you are using a BlueScale version prior to BlueScale12.3.0, either Ethernet port on the Spectra LS can be used. However, only one Ethernet port at a time can be used. If cables are connected to both ports, the module automatically checks for active connections and uses the first connection that it detects.
F-QIP can provide Fibre Channel connectivity for SCSI drives. The F-QIP and the E-QIP are no longer available for purchase. If your library uses E-QIPs, refer to the documentation that accompanied your library for information about using this module. August 2018 User Guide—Spectra T120 Library...

Important: Spectra Logic does not support daisy-chaining LTO-4 SCSI drives. LTO-3 SCSI drives can be daisy-chained, but must be limited to two drives on a single SCSI bus. Daisy-chaining other devices on the same SCSI bus as a drive is not supported.
LTO-2 and LTO-3 drives are also no longer available for purchase. IBRARY XPANSION AND PGRADES The Spectra T120 library is designed to expand to meet a data center’s changing storage requirements. See Appendix B – Media and Upgrades, beginning on page 458 for additional information.
HAPTER Architecture Overview The T120 is designed to provide flexibility and ease of use. To take full advantage of the library’s versatility, read this overview of the library’s software and hardware architecture. Topic Library Partitions page 40 Storage Partitions page 41...
The library supports two types of partitions, storage partitions and cleaning partitions. A T120 library has a maximum of six storage partitions. One or more cleaning partitions can be configured in a single library. A single cleaning partition can be associated with multiple storage partitions.
Instead of maintaining multiple physical libraries—one per backup package—the data center can use a single Spectra Logic library with multiple partitions, in which each partition appears to the software as a dedicated library.
In addition to automatic cleaning, you can use the BlueScale user interface to initiate a manual cleaning operation using a cleaning cartridge stored in the cleaning partition. Only drives in a storage partition that has an associated cleaning partition can be cleaned using this method. August 2018 User Guide—Spectra T120 Library...

If drives are visible to multiple servers, your storage management software must support Important this visibility. Otherwise server contention for a single drive can create network and system problems. August 2018 User Guide—Spectra T120 Library...
You may also need to configure your storage management software to correctly recognize both ports.
