The following table describes the PreScan and PostScan options.
When selected...
Enables the PreScan feature. When enabled, PreScan replaces the
more basic Media Auto Discovery process. See Using PreScan on
page 306 for information about this option.
Enables the FullScan feature. When enabled by selecting one or
more PostScan triggers, FullScan uses a Global Spare drive
assigned to the partition to verify all of the data on each cartridge.
See Using PostScan on page 307 for information about this option.
Note: FullScan is only available if a Global Spare drive is
configured for the partition.
Enables the QuickScan feature. When enabled by selecting one or
more PostScan triggers, QuickScan uses one of the drives in the
partition to verify the data on a single wrap, from the beginning of
the tape (BOT) to the end of the wrap or the end of recorded data
(EOD), whichever comes first. See Using PostScan on page 307 for
information about this option.
QuickScan is only available if the partition uses LTO‐5 or

Enables the QuickScan using Global Spares feature. When
enabled by selecting one or more PostScan triggers, QuickScan
uses a Global Spare drive assigned to the partition to verify the

Notes:
 QuickScan using Global Spares is only available if a Global
Spare drive is configured for the partition.
 QuickScan using Global Spares is only available if the partition
uses LTO‐5 or later generation Fibre Channel drives or TS11xx
technology drives.
Enables PostScan and configures one or more triggers.
 Verify After Time — Add the cartridges in the partition to the
automatic PostScan queue after the specified number of days
have passed since the last scan. Enter the number of days in the
Days field.
 Verify After Write — Add a cartridge to the automatic PostScan
queue each time data is written to it.
 Verify After Read — Add a cartridge to the automatic PostScan
queue each time data is read from it.
Note: Selecting any of these triggers automatically enables the
selected PostScan option.
