Pattern Management Overview
SmarTest's general pattern management allows you to store the labels
you want to use in a testflow in different vector files. For example, you
could store every label in a different file.
• Storing labels in different files allows much faster debugging.
• You can store the vector files everywhere in the file system. The
vector files do not have to reside in the "vectors" subdirectory of the
device directory. This provides a lot of flexibility to arrange the
vector files in the file system.
As in a basic scenario the individual tests of the testflow point to vector
labels. However, in a general scenario the list of vector labels is not
simply given by the labels contained in a single vector file. Rather it is
composed of the labels of a number of different vector files.
In this general scenario you have to set up a pattern master file which
specifies
• the different vector files,
• the paths where these vector files reside.

The label list is composed from the vector files
specified in the pattern master file.
