10-1 Vector Setup
Vector setup means filling the vector memory with physical waveform
indices. You use often the ASCII Interface to generate the vector setup
from, for example, vector data from simulation.
You can also enter the physical waveform indices manually using the
Vector Setup Editor. Be sure that you use a small and simple device. The
Vector Setup Editor then used to verify and modify these data.
NOTE
In this training the ASCII files are provided by the instructor.
Pointers
The vector setup specifies the sequence of physical waveforms which
are applied to the DUT pins when a test is executed. For every pin it
defines a sequence of pointers to physical waveforms defined in the
wavetables of the timing setup. The pointers are hex numbers.
However, the Vector Setup Editor does not display these pointers
directly. It displays device cycles names according to the device cycle
names defined in the wavetable you use for the vector setup.
In order to display the vector memory in the Vector Setup Editor you
have to select a wavetable. The hex numbers of the vector memory are
then mapped to the device cycle names according to the wavetable, and
the device cycle names are displayed in the Vector Setup Editor.
The device cycle names can be
• [0 - 14], . , [16 - 31] if the default mapping is active
• device cycle names individually defined in the wavetable.
In all cases the vector setup is represented as a table, where
• a row contains the pointers of all pins/ pin groups to physical wave-
forms of one cycle,
• a column contains the sequence of pointers to physical waveforms
of all cycles for one particular pin.
If you want to enter vectors in the Vector Setup Editor you have to
enter the device cycle names according to the base wavetable. The
system then writes the corresponding hex numbers into the vector
memory.
